Gabe came to AZWegie from the ForestKatz cattery in Texas. Fantasia was one of the kittens in Keegan's first litter. It is a miracle that Fantasia
is still alive. In August, I came home from work and found her paralyzed from the waist down.  I immediately scooped her up and rushed her off
to the local Emergency Veterinarian.  The vet took one look at her and said that she probably had a tumor on her spine.  If it's not a tumor, it's
probably either spinal meningitis or any number of diseases that can affect the spine.  I told the vet that I wanted a definitive diagnosis before
I would make any decisions.  He referred me to a Veterinary Neurologist.  Before examining Fantasia, the neurologist give me the same
recommendation.  I told him the same thing.  I needed a definitive diagnosis before making any decisions.  The neurologist performed a
myelogram and a spinal tap.  After the procedures the neurologist told me that there was no tumor on her spine, and there were no fractures on her
spine, but he was still not sure what was causing the paralysis.  They kept her overnight for observation, and to administer pain medications.
I picked up Fantasia the next morning.  They taught me how to express her bladder, and administer physical therapy to her legs.

About four days later, Fantasia started moving her back legs.  After another couple days, I was able to help her stand. Over the next few days
she got stronger every day, until eventually, she was able to walk more than just a few steps without falling.  After a week, the neurologist called
and told me all the tests on her spinal fluid had come back negative.  His conclusion at that time was that she must have fallen or something might
have fallen on her, and bruised her spinal column.  The swelling was compressing the spinal column and causing the paralysis.  The neurologist said
he was so glad that I had insisted on following through with a diagnosis and treatment.  He has continued to followed her since the injury, and into her pregnancy.  He says she is truly a miracle kitty.
